Ans: The Calcutta Medical College was founded in the
year 1835. It was motivated to educate native youths irrespective of caste and
creed, in the principles and practices or medical science in accordance with
the mode adopted in Europe.
(ii)

two aims of establishing the University of Calcutta.
Ans: The University of Calcutta was founded by the
British to train indigenous students to become clerks in the British
government. The Indians supported the establishment of this University for the
spread of modern scientific education in India.

way, he broke the Indian tradition.
