Ans: The Hindu Patriot covered many contemporary social issues. It viewed that Hindu marriage law had imposed disability on the part of the girls in exercising their right to marry on their own initiative. It remarked that t he abolition of child marriage would destroy the system.

 

(iii)             What was the social contribution of Hindo Patriot?

جواب: ’’ہندو پیٹریوٹ نامی اخبار نے بہت سارے عصری مسائل کو اپنا موضوع بنایا تھا۔ اس اخبار کا نظریہ تھا کہ ہندو میرج قانون نے لڑکیوں کو ایک طرح سے مجبور کر دیا ہے کہ وہ اپنی مرضی کے مطابق شادی نہیں کرسکتی ہیں۔ اس ہفتہ وار اخبار نے کم عمری کی شادی کے خاتمے کے خلاف بھی اپنی آواز بلند کیا گیا۔

ہندو پیٹریاٹ بنگال کے معروف ہفتہ وار اخبار کے طور پر کیسے ابھرا۔

(a)

جواب:- ’’ہندو پیٹریوٹ‘‘ ایک انگریزی کی ہفتہ وار اخبار تھا۔ اس کی اشاعت کلکتہ سے ہوا کرتا تھا،  اس ہفتہ وار اخبار کو سب سے پہلے مدھو سدن راے نے شائع کیا تھا۔  اس کے ایڈیٹر ہریش چندرمکھرجی تھے۔ یہ اخبار بنگال کا ایک اہم اور مشہور اخبار کے طور پرلوگوں میں مقبولیت حاصل کر چکا تھا۔ ہندو پٹر یوٹ‘‘ نے زیادہ تر اس وقت کے سماجی مسائل کو پیش کیا تھا۔ مثال کے طور پر ہندو پیٹریوٹ‘‘ کے خیال کے مطابق ہندو میرج قانون ( ہندووں کی شادی کے قانون) نے پوری طرح سے لڑکیوں کی آزادی اور ان کی مرضی سے شادی کی راہ میں رکاوٹ ڈالنے کا کام کیا تھا۔ یہ اخبار قومی نظریہ بھی رکھتا تھا۔ 1857 کے غدر کے دوران ہندو پیٹر نوٹ‘‘ نے جو مضامین شائع کئے تھے وہ غدر سے ہی متعلق مضامین تھے۔ یہ اخبار ایک طرح سے عوام کی زبان بن گیا تھا۔ نیل کے کاشت کروانے والے کاشت کاروں کی طرف سے غریب کسانوں پر ظلم ہورہے تھے ۔ اس ظلم " اور نا انصافی کے خلاف عوام میں جو ہلچل تھی اس ہلچل کو اس اخبار نے عوام کی زبان بنا کر پیش کیا تھا۔
